Aligning with Well-Being
Crystal Miller, MA, CHTP

“The energy session was great!” was the comment one of my clients sent me; let’s call her “Mary.” She was so positive about her experience that she wanted to share it as an example of what it can feel like to align with well-being and a true sense of self through energy work. Mary continued, “As I was driving down the road, I felt so happy — and that's been a long time (since experiencing happiness like this). I could feel my happy, positive energy inside me!  I couldn’t stop smiling!  I think I’ve had the holes for a while and I’ve just been leaking energy for a long time.  I’m trying to pay attention and keep my energy field intact. I have much more clarity about myself – it made perfect sense to me why I was feeling so tired! I could see that I was like a bag of sand with a hole and my energy was leaking out.  Seeing what I’ve been doing emotionally and how it has affected my energy field has helped me set limits and stay aware of what I am feeling and needing. Your suggestion of visualizing myself as a tree, putting down my roots deep into the earth, has been very helpful in grounding and feeling my strength. I have been putting my hands on my solar plexus during stressful times, focusing on sending energy as you did, and it helps calm me.”

Most of my sessions with clients are a combination of Energy Therapy and Life Coaching; and such was the case with Mary. As we talked, she explained to me that she had not felt “complete” for a while. She stated she felt she had “energy holes” as she called it, which developed after the births of her children. She described feeling like her own energy was draining out toward people she cared for. This left her feeling vulnerable, as well as tired.

I began the energy work by placing my hands on Mary’s feet and tuned into the energy moving through her body. I focused on clearing blocks and facilitating the energy moving in a balanced, even flow. Within minutes of this process, she exclaimed, “Wow, that felt like the circuit just completed itself.” This happened so quickly it indicated to me that Mary was ready and open for an energy shift! I worked with her chakras and followed the energy to her solar plexus area which was congested. We worked on clearing the congestion and increasing the energy flow. Mary had some digestive issues and we discussed the emotional, physical, and energetic connection, and what she could do to feel more grounded in her own personal power. I worked at her crown chakra and there seemed to be an “expansion” taking place in this area. After the session, she described feeling “whole” again, able to contain her energy and be in her own space, grounded in who she is.

Mary has shared with me that she continues to feel a greater connection with herself and is recognizing that taking time to care for herself is essential. She told me that having an increased awareness of her own energy field was most significant. She claims it feels as if doors of awareness, clarity and happiness are opening for her. Mary experienced powerful shifts with her first session. This is a good example of what can happen when we tap into the Source of well-being and our true selves.

Sometimes, our focus may shift away from what is needed and desired personally to how we can be of service to others. It can shift simply as a result of the day-to-day responsibilities of our jobs, being parents, or the dynamics of our relationships. We may not realize that we are out of touch with ourselves, our true desires and passions, and not meeting our own needs. When we loose sight of ourselves, of our truth, we can disrupt the flow of well-being.

Whether through energy work, meditation, Yoga, or Tai Chi, the key seems to be connecting to the Source of well-being and allowing that energy to flow within us. From this state, we naturally exude love, not because we are trying to “fix,” “change” or “help” someone as our goal, but simply choosing to be present so that we get to experience these joyful, loving moments. Those around us can feel that positive, peaceful feeling as well. In this way, we may energetically influence another and they may choose to raise their vibration, or “energy frequency.” However, that is their responsibility and results only from their allowing themselves to experience it. My son, at the age of 11, said, “Mom, you know, if everyone cared for themselves, took responsibility for creating love and happiness in their own lives, instead of looking to others to do that for them, what a peaceful world this would be.” Oh, how I love to hear wise words from children.

As for Mary, she did listen to her own needs for balance and reconnection and decided to experience energy therapy as a way to re-align herself. Energy work certainly can be an effective way to strengthen the natural, balanced flow and support alignment with well- being. It is our connection to this flow of Divine Energy that reminds us of who we truly are.
